Description: This panel will focus on transportation and mobility topics relevant to S&CC, in areas such as mobility decision making in underserved communities, protocols for personal mobility in intelligent urban transportation systems, smart and safe micromobility services, and technologies for combating commuting challenges for the visually impaired.

Panelists will share their insights and perspectives for successful planning grant activities, such as strengthening academic research teams and community partnerships, refining their IRG project vision, and undertaking a limited set of early-stage research activities.

Responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic - S&CC RAPID Awards

Description:  This panel will engage in a discussion with S&CC PI’s who received Rapid Response Research (RAPID) awards to undertake critical research addressing emerging issues associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The RAPID funding mechanism allows NSF to receive and review proposals having a severe urgency with regard to availability of or access to data, facilities or specialized equipment as well as quick-response research on natural or anthropogenic disasters and similar unanticipated events. The panelists will share their experiences conducting S&CC research geared towards pandemic response, working across diverse areas such as transportation, consumer behavior and digital infrastructure.
